Teapot from the "Blossom" Service

1905
Designed by Georg Jensen (Danish, 1866–1935) Made by Georg Jensen Sølvsmedie A/S, Copenhagen, Denmark (1904–present)
The "Blossom" service was among the first hollowware (vessels of significant depth or volume, as opposed to flatware) produced by Jensen. The simplicity of its contours are strikingly modern, while its realistic magnolia bud decoration hearkens back to Jensen's love of nature and the Danish countryside. Like other Jensen pieces, the silver in the "Blossom" service has been treated with countless hammer strikes, creating a surface texture that reveals the maker's hand and softens its visual impact.
