Exhibition Assistant, Sean Scully Retrospective (Part-Time)

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is seeking an Exhibition Assistant who will assist the Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art with all tasks related to the organization of the Sean Scully retrospective exhibition and its related catalogue. Opening in the summer of 2020, this exhibition is devoted to the work of Sean Scully, an artist whose rich body of work spans more than five decades and represents a significant chapter in the history of abstraction. This is a part-time, temporary position scheduled for 21 hours a week until the opening of the exhibition in June 2020.

Publications Assistant, American Art

The Philadelphia Museum of Art seeks a Publications Assistant who will assist the Curator of American Decorative Arts and support the publication of the museum’s first catalogue of its American furniture dating from 1650 to 1840. The successful candidate will assist in all facets of this final phase of the project, which includes a digital component. This is a temporary, part-time position of 2-3 days a week with an expected duration of 12-15 months. Ideally, this position will start at the end of February 2019.

Manager of Leadership Annual Giving, Associates

The Manager of Leadership Annual Giving, Associates has a primary focus on direct contact with donors and prospects. This position is also responsible for overseeing acquisition initiatives for two of the Museum’s four collection-based affinity groups: photography (Focus), and contemporary (Collect). You will develop a dynamic strategy to identify and cultivate potential new members through targeted direct mail and events, working with a volunteer committee and alongside Development colleagues to reinforce and assist in these efforts.

Collections Interpreter

Charged with the task of making art engaging and meaningful to the broadest possible audience, the department of Interpretation oversees all interpretive initiatives for both special exhibitions and the museum’s permanent collection.

Teaching Artists

For the Art Table program, the division of Education at the Philadelphia Museum of Art is placing two local artists at Broad Street Ministry to work collaboratively to lead a weekly 90-minute art class. Classes will be held on Tuesday afternoons from 1:00-2:30pm, onsite at Broad Street Ministry. Working together, the artists will design a unique studio experience for participants. The duration of on-site collaboration between artists will be 12-weeks total, March-May 2019. Artists will be paid for their participation, as well as receive free admission to the Museum for one year.
