Final Fridays: Work Your Angles

In-Gallery Workshop: Write Your Self-Portrait

Join University of Pennsylvania creative writing instructor Jamie-Lee Josselyn to explore your identity through the story of a personal object or trait—a trinket in your pocket, a treasured collection, or even a scar on your body itself—that speaks to who you are, where you’ve been, or who you dream to be.

Artist Portraits with Plate 3

Gallery 201, 2nd floor
Have your headshot taken by Philadelphia-based photography studio Plate 3, known for capturing the unique, the divine, and the essential in portraiture. Whether for business or personal use, a headshot is an opportunity to put your energy into the world and see what comes back.

Detour with Quil Lemons
5:45 & 6:30 p.m.
Meet in the Dorrance Galleries, 1st floor
Using his own camera, style, and friends, photographer Quil Lemons recreates selected portraits from Face to Face. In an unconventional gallery tour, see the world through his images that confront race, identity, and reality.

Philly-based rap and spoken word artist Ivy Sole draws from the sounds of boom bap hip hop, alternative R&B, neo soul, and indie rock to present a portrait of her past, present, and future.

Go on a guided tour of the exhibition Face to Face: Portraits of Artists with Peter Barberie, the Brodsky Curator of Photographs, Alfred Stieglitz Center.

Museum Studio: Portrait Photography

Meet in the Great Stair Hall.
Paid tickets required
$40 ($32 members); includes Museum admission

Visit the exhibition Face to Face: Portraits of Artists, and explore the roles of director and performer in portrait photography as you learn how to navigate the relationship of working with a model. Attendees should bring their own cameras. Participants should have a basic understanding of photography and be familiar with their cameras.
